I’m going to jump right in and say just because you are self-employed and own a business, doesn’t make you an entrepreneur. The difference between an entrepreneur and a business owner is the mind set of how you go about building your business. Entrepreneurship is an art. It takes a lot of time, practice and requires a lot of knowledge in numerous areas of business. It also takes a certain mind set, which unfortunately is something that you can’t always learn.
Okay, so what’s the difference between a small business owner and an Entrepreneur?
SMALL BUSINESS OWNER
– Usually, a small business owner wants to just make a living.
– They tend to have an emotional attachment to their business.
– Usually, they are happy with how things are, content to carry on (if successful).
– They are more likely to do something that others are doing, such as opening a retail shop.
– They tend to not take any big risks, starting the business was usually the biggest one.
– Rarely want things to stay as they are. Constantly looking for ways to improve themselves and the world.
– They are always on the lookout and thinking of the next big thing.
– More often than not they will do things out of passion or opportunity rather than making a living.
– They are passionate and highly motivated.
– Usually excited and willing to take risks.

If you’re always on the lookout for more effective and efficient ways to work, then you’re more likely to find a competitive advantage.

19. YOU TACKLE THE SMALL STUFF DAILY
Entrepreneurs know how annoying it can be to have the small stuff build up and get out of hand. That’s exactly why they don’t let it get to that stage. Entrepreneurs embrace the idea of doing little things so they can achieve the big things.
