You’re quite new to selling online, how long did it take you to get set up and how did you promote your new business?
We approached a local PR and Marketing company – PRopelU Ltd, for support in getting our business online. They dealt with the process of setting up our EKM shop for us and we were online and trading within 48 hours. We also use social media to promote our products and keep in contact with our customers.
Was the Coronavirus an influencing factor for getting your business online? If so how has being online treated you?
We introduced a local delivery service when the government initially announced the lockdown. The service saw such huge demand that we felt the need to launch an online platform.

How did you earn your first sale and how did it feel?
Our first sales came almost immediately and the business has continued to grow online sales since. It’s great to see the number of people that are switching back to supporting local businesses. It’s just phenomenal. We can’t thank people enough. We knew we had to simplify things for people that needed home deliveries, so that’s what we did.
Did you have any experience in selling online before starting your business?
No, we did take orders for delivery, but traditionally over the telephone.
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced since starting your business?
Supplying customers became problematic during the COVID-19 outbreak, as people were either afraid or unable to leave their homes, therefore the online order portal was a fantastic way to continue to support them whilst maintaining social distancing.
What do you love most about running your own business?
Being able to supply high quality, local produce to our customers. Our online shop has taken away the worry of managing the order system, enabling us to concentrate on what we do best.
